From queries about our storage facilities to specific services, we’ve compiled a list of the most frequently asked questions to help you understand what makes AutoVault the ideal choice for your car storage needs.

We discuss your car storage needs either via email or phone. Once you’re fully satisfied, you can either drive your vehicle to the AutoVault premises or we’ll collect it from your chosen location. The handover process, which includes completing all necessary paperwork, takes about 40 minutes.

If you’re unable to be present, we can manage everything via email. After the handover, we can offer you a lift to a nearby mainline railway station, or you can arrange your own transport.

We provide Maintenance Levels 1 and 2. Level 1 includes a 20-point vehicle check every 30 days, assessing any leakages and checking the vehicle’s warning lights before starting it. After starting, we’ll gently warm up the car, checking the major systems, and then return it to storage. If any serious issues arise, we’ll consult with the owner for further instructions.

Level 2 includes all Level 1 checks, plus a short drive on private roads, eliminating the need for an MOT or road fund licence, and reducing risk from other road users.

We insure each vehicle comprehensively on an individual basis while it’s on our premises. You can choose whether to continue with your existing insurance coverage.

Please provide a minimum of two working days’ notice, although more notice helps us better prepare your vehicle for removal from storage.

For security and privacy reasons, we can’t allow viewings of the facility without a car storage contract. However, you’re welcome to inspect the car storage area before completing the handover process.

Yes, we can take your vehicle to a local test station, wait during the inspection, and return it to storage immediately afterwards.

We recommend leaving the vehicle uncovered to allow de-humidified air to circulate fully. We store cars with a window open and without a draped chassis for optimal air circulation. However, we’ll cover your vehicle if you prefer.

No, if you remove your vehicle partway through a month, we only charge for the days the vehicle was in storage.
